Trump Discussed Replacing Fed Chair Powell With Ex-Governor Kevin Warsh, Report Claims

Former President Donald Trump recently spoke with Kevin Warsh, who used to work at the Federal Reserve, about possibly replacing the current Fed chairman, Jerome Powell. Powell’s job is supposed to last until May 2026, but Trump has been unhappy with him. According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, Warsh told Trump not to fire Powell or try to interfere with his job. These talks happened at Trump’s home in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, as recently as February. Other people have also told Trump to fire Powell, even as recently as March. Trump has often said he wants Powell to lower interest rates, but Powell hasn’t done that. On Thursday morning, Trump posted on Truth Social, saying he couldn’t wait for Powell to be removed from his job. Popup Iframe Example
